Position Summary
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct resident care and support services within a state-operated long-term care and skilled nursing facility serving adults with chronic medical conditions, dementia, behavioral health diagnoses, and complex care needs. The CNA assists residents with activities of daily living while promoting safety, dignity, comfort, and quality of life in a therapeutic residential environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding, and mobility.
- Monitor residents’ physical and behavioral conditions and report changes to nursing staff promptly.
- Obtain and record vital signs, weights, intake/output, and other routine observations.
- Assist with transfers, ambulation, repositioning, and use of mobility equipment.
- Provide emotional support and maintain professional interactions with residents experiencing behavioral health or cognitive challenges.
- Respond appropriately to resident needs, emergencies, and behavioral situations.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized resident environment.
- Assist nursing staff with treatments, specimen collection, and other delegated care tasks within CNA scope of practice.
- Document care activities accurately and timely according to facility policies.
- Follow infection control procedures, safety protocols, and confidentiality standards.
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the applicable state.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a long-term care and behavioral health environment.
- Strong communication, observation, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in long-term care, dementia care, behavioral health, or skilled nursing preferred.
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
