POSITION PURPOSE
Anesthesia Cart Biomedical Service Technician (BMET)
This is NOT an Anesthesia Technician position
We are looking for a skilled person who has experience in providing Preventive Maintenance (PM), safety testing, repairs, calibration, installation, routine and emergency service, to general and specialized diagnostic, therapeutic, and support medical equipment. Experience with anesthesia machines is mandatory. Med-Stat Medical is one of the oldest and most established medical equipment service companies in the Mid-Atlantic region serving doctor’s offices, clinics as well as other health care providers in the region.
This position’s hours are generally Monday thru Friday from 8-4. Rarely will a weekend be required and never will you be on-call! A relocation package is also available for the right person!
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Candidate Will:
- Perform inspection and/or repair services on GE and/or Mindray anesthesia machines.
- Come to know, understand, incorporate and demonstrate the mission, vision and core values of Med-Stat Medical in leadership behaviors, practices and decisions. He or she will also have developed technical skills regarding the operation and repair of medical equipment found in the clinical environment.
- Troubleshoot equipment failure, perform repairs, consult with manufacturer tech support, and perform routine preventive maintenance on a wide variety of types of medical equipment using manufacturer’s recommendations, standards or code requirements, as well as industry acceptable processes as guidelines.
- Posses the self-reliance to operate in the field by him or herself.
- Have the interpersonal skills to interact with the customers (e.g. describing unit operation, proper care, and other customer service communications) as well as internal customers in promoting teamwork by keeping others informed, participating effectively in group decision making, while working to accomplish team objectives and projects, and by soliciting feedback about one's effectiveness as a team member.
- Have a familiarity and experience with biomedical test equipment including safety analyzers is necessary.
- The candidate must be reliable, punctual, and have a good driving record.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of an Associates of Applied Sciences Degree in related field of medical electronics, electronic technology or equivalent military related training required. CBET certification preferred.
- Five or more years’ experience or equivalent performing corrective and planned maintenance on medical devices and/or clinical equipment.
- Specialized training by manufacturer or third-party equipment repair in such areas anesthesia machines, sterilizers, ultrasound, ventilators, etc.
- Working knowledge and ability to use basic hand tools and test equipment specific to the field.
- Ability to operate complex test equipment, analyze and interpret information provided by equipment and clinical staff to determine equipment operational condition.
- Must have basic understanding of personal computer operation, applications, and the ability to input data using keyboard. Technician must be able to follow complex written instructions, perform tasks and document actions taken.
- Strong customer service and communications skills are required to interact with hospital personnel and vendors to achieve positive outcomes.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- Must be physically able to balance, bend, climb, crawl, crouch, kneel, reach, sit, squat, stand, twist, and walk.
- Must be able to hear speech, distinguish sounds, and speak English clearly.
- Must have near vision, far vision, depth perception, and be able to distinguish colors.
- Must have sensory ability to distinguish hot, cold, range of temperature, surfaces, fine motor skills, manual dexterity, and detect/distinguish odors.
- Must be able to carry or lift up to 85 pounds waist high.
- Must be able to maintains safe working environment for self, other associates, patients, visitors, and medical staff in accordance with applicable standards and procedures relevant to job duties.
- Must be able to travel to the various customers of Med-Stat Medical using a company provided vehicle.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
