Mecum Auctions is looking for an Auto Transport professional to join their Mecum Auto Transport team to handle local and auction deliveries. You will be driving a company owned 2018 dodge 3500 dually with a gooseneck trailer with a 48 foot enclosed trailer. Your responsibilities include loading and delivering classic automobiles throughout the country. This is an extremely high travel job (over 200 days a year) since you will be attending our auctions as well as moving inventory locally in Wisconsin. Mecum pays for hotels and other expenses related while you are working. You will attend our car auction events for local deliveries and pickups, see www.mecum.com for the schedule. You will be responsible for some of the rarest cars in the world as well as meet some great people with a great company.
Responsibilities
- Load, unload, and haul classic cars that are extremely expensive.
- Plan routes and meet delivery schedules.
- Comply with DOT driving regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures
- Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
- Collect and verify delivery instructions
- Report defects, accidents or violations
Qualification/Experience
- Proven work experience as an Auto Transport driver
- Being careful and being able to converse with high net worth individuals
- Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly
- Extensive knowledge of applicable DOT regulations
- No recent moving or driving violations
- Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc)
- Valid class A CDL
- Knowledge of operating an ELD
