What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Corrections Placement Coordinator position at MECOSTA COUNTY?
General Summary
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Big Rapids, MI, for a Community Corrections Placement Coordinator. Under the supervision of the Community Corrections Coordinator, enters client and other data into the computer system. Assists the Coordinator in providing intake and orientation of clients for designated programs. Performs PBTs and urine tests. Performs a variety of clerical support functions for the program.
Essential Functions
- Enters background data to system on each person entered into a Community Correction program. May requiring entering data into multiple programs. Maintains client files.
- Performs orientation of clients enrolling in community service or day reporting programs. Outlines program requirements and ensures client understands their responsibilities. Ensures all paperwork is completed.
- Places clients at worksites after evaluating the individual’s work ethics and strengths. Reviews and approves community service assignments out of the County. Maintains contact with worksite supervisor regarding client’s work performance.
- Performs daily PBT for clients in day reporting program. Also monitors urine tests.
- Utilizes electronic equipment to take fingerprints of individuals for concealed weapons permits and various other purposes. Involves direct physical contact with the public while taking fingerprints.
- Requests warrants and show causes for clients that have not fulfilled their obligation for community service or fines and costs. Prepares documents necessary for enforcement action. May appear in court to testify at show cause as necessary.
- Performs word processing of a variety of materials including reminder letters to clients and other correspondence, reports, forms and other documents.
- Performs data entry necessary for various statistical reports and assists the Coordinator in the preparation of such reports.
- Assists the Coordinator in program oversight which may include visiting community service worksite to ensure clients are working, interviewing clients in jail, and performing other related tasks.
- Performs a variety of clerical support tasks such as answering the telephone and responding to inquiries, performing various data entry tasks, making copies, processing mail, and related tasks.
- Performs designated functions of the Community Corrections Coordinator in the absence of that individual.
Desired Qualifications
High school graduation, preferably with some advanced coursework in criminal justice or related area. One year of experience in the criminal justice system which included working with software similar to that used in the department.
Additional Information
Starting pay: $17.37, with an increase to $18.06/hour on January 1, 2026
Hours: 37.5 hours/week
