Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the Director of Technology, the Instructional Technology Resource Teacher supports the integration of technology into teaching and learning across the school division. This position is responsible for enhancing instructional practices, improving communication, increasing efficiency, and supporting data-driven decision-making to improve teacher effectiveness and student achievement. The role includes providing professional development, coaching staff, and facilitating the effective use of instructional technologies.
Essential Functions
- Instructional Technology Integration: Collaborates with K–12 teachers to integrate technology into instruction in meaningful and effective ways. Models best practices and supports the use of digital tools to enhance student learning and engagement. Promotes and supports the effective use of the division’s one-to-one Chromebook/laptop initiative to enhance teaching and learning. Promotes instructional strategies that support 21st-century skills, including collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity. Communicates and models a vision for technology-rich learning environments.
- Professional Development: Designs, delivers, and evaluates high-quality professional development aligned with division goals and Virginia Department of Education Technology Standards. Supports staff in building capacity with instructional technology.
- Technology Leadership and Support: Serves as a resource to teachers, administrators, and staff on instructional technology tools, trends, and best practices. Communicates information regarding emerging technologies and instructional strategies. Creates and shares instructional resources, guides, and materials to support effective technology integration for teachers and staff. Assists in the implementation and evaluation of the division’s Technology Plan.
- Curriculum Support: Assists instructional staff with integrating technology into curriculum development and implementation. Supports digital content creation and alignment with instructional goals.
- Collaboration and Communication: Works collaboratively with school administrators, instructional staff, and the technology department to identify needs, solve problems, and support division-wide initiatives. Provides ongoing communication regarding technology-related updates and expectations. Researches emerging technologies and evaluates their instructional value. Provides recommendations for hardware, software, and services purchases.
- Technical Support and Troubleshooting: Assists with troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues. Coordinates with the technology department and utilizes the division’s work order system as needed.
- Digital Learning Platforms: Supports the implementation and effective use of digital platforms such as iReady, Interactive Achievement, Pearson, ThinkCentral, and Houghton Mifflin. Assists staff and students with access and usage.
- Professional Growth: Engages in ongoing professional learning to remain current with educational technology trends, tools, and best practices.
Additional Duties
Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director of Technology or school administrators to support the effective operation of the school division.

Educational Requirements and Certifications
- Certification/License: Must hold or be eligible for a valid Virginia teaching license with appropriate endorsement.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required.
- Experience: Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience required. Experience with instructional technology integration preferred.
Physical and Mental Demands
- Works in a standard school and classroom environment with frequent travel between sites.
- Must be able to lift and transport technology equipment and materials.
- Requires the ability to manage multiple tasks, provide training, and support staff effectively in a dynamic environment.
Employment Term: 12-month position
