DESCRIPTION: The Line and Prep Cook/Dishwasher is a key role in the daily operations of the café by taking pride in the quality and presentation of food preparation and plating while maintaining a clean and organized kitchen.
The ideal candidate is dependable, hardworking, detail-oriented, and eager to grow in a positive kitchen environment. This position requires extended periods of standing, lifting, working around heat and kitchen equipment, and a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Line Cooking and Service:
- Cook and assemble menu items to recipe standards during service.
- Maintain consistency in portioning, flavor, and presentation.
- Manage timing and communication to ensure orders are delivered accurately and efficiently.
- Keep the cooking station stocked, organized, and clean throughout the shift.
- Communicate with front-of-house staff and kitchen team to support smooth service flow.
Kitchen Support and Food Preparation:
- Assist with basic prep tasks such as measuring, chopping, portioning, and assembling ingredients.
- Follow recipe instructions and kitchen standards to support consistent food quality.
- Properly store ingredients and maintain accurate labeling and rotation practices.
Dishwashing and Cleaning:
- Wash and sanitize dishes, small wares, utensils, and cookware throughout the shift.
- Keep dish station organized and ensure clean tools are consistently available for the kitchen team.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, equipment, floors, and food-prep areas.
- Empty trash and maintain proper waste handling procedures.
Food Safety and Standards:
- Follow all food handling, sanitation, and safety guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant kitchen environment at all times.
Teamwork and Communication:
- Work collaboratively with team members to keep service running smoothly.
- Maintain a positive and respectful work environment, supporting a team-first culture.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous kitchen or food-service experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to follow directions, learn quickly, and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to assist wherever needed.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs, stand for long periods, and work around heat and kitchen equipment.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
HOURS:
- Part-time available
- Shift ranges: 6am-3:30pm
