MSD is looking for a Safety Specialist to join our team!
The Safety Specialist conducts safety audits for each job site. The Safety Specialist aids administration of all company safety programs; including on-site training and inspections. The Safety Specialist ensures organizational compliance with all applicable OSHA rules and regulations and leads company safety improvement efforts. The Safety Specialist supports the total quality effort by identifying and responding to the needs of internal and external customers 100% of the time.
Key Job Duties
- Conduct safety audits and complete reports for each job site
- Inspect safety equipment for compliance
- Conduct Elevated Platform Training
- Train team members on proper health and safety techniques on the job site
- Organize and conduct Safety audits
- Provide enhanced training to supervisory team members on the job site
- Transport, or arrange direct transportation for, injured personnel to appropriate locations, i.e. emergency room, hospital, or drug testing location
- Conduct onboarding for new personnel
- Attend safety meetings for customers as needed
- Conduct on-site incident investigations for any reportable accidents including but not limited to: equipment failures, personal injury, near miss, and motor vehicle accidents
- Visit planned, and on-going, job locations to review any safety concerns or issues
- Conduct New Hire training as needed
- Ensure site personnel have appropriate training for the site they are on
- Maintain compliance with company, local, state, and federal guidelines, rules and regulations, including but not limited to: OSHA and BWC
- Maintain/update proficiency/knowledge by participation in local, state, and federal safety training
- Make every reasonable effort to ensure safe practices and get every employee home safely
Candidate Requirements:
- Associate’s degree in Safety Management/equivalent course of study, or related field experience preferred
- 5 years’ experience in a construction or safety field preferred
- Must possess/able to obtain OSHA 30, 500, & 510
- Able to operate productivity software, such as Microsoft Office suite
- General understanding of Safety and OSHA compliance in a construction environment
- Able to clearly communicate in written and verbal English
- Unencumbered US Driver’s license
- US Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status required
- This is a field/office position (non-remote)
