Role Description This full-time Pump Technician role is an on-site position based in Houston, TX. The Pump Technician will install, commission, troubleshoot, and repair pumps and related mechanical HVAC equipment at customer locations and in the shop. Daily tasks include conducting inspections, diagnosing mechanical and hydraulic issues, performing preventive maintenance, and replacing or repairing parts as needed. The role involves reading and interpreting technical documentation, such as equipment manuals, schematics, and installation guides, and maintaining accurate service records and reports. The Pump Technician will collaborate with engineers, project managers, and sales representatives to support customers, provide technical guidance, and ensure safe, efficient operation of equipment. The position also requires adherence to safety procedures, proper use of tools and test equipment, and occasional travel within the Houston area or broader Texas region as needed.

Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on skills in pump installation, maintenance, and repair, including alignment, seal replacement, and basic piping work.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and specifications related to pumps and HVAC mechanical systems.
  • Experience with troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and test equipment.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, fluid dynamics, and basic plumbing or industrial piping practices is highly beneficial.
  • Commitment to safety, including familiarity with OSHA guidelines, lockout/tagout procedures, and safe use of hand and power tools.
  • Effective communication and customer service skills to interact professionally with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Ability to work on-site, manage time efficiently, and perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting, standing, and working in mechanical rooms.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification, trade school training, or prior experience as a pump or HVAC technician is preferred.
  • Basic computer skills for completing service reports, using manufacturer software, and handling email and documentation.
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record for travel to job sites in the Houston area and across Texas as needed.
