Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Estimator/Project Manager to join our team and lead the successful planning, budgeting, and execution of commercial construction projects. This role combines the critical functions of estimating project costs with managing the entire project lifecycle, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in construction industry standards, excellent communication skills, and proficiency with estimating and project management software. Duties

  • Prepare accurate and comprehensive project estimates by reviewing blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine material requirements and labor costs.
  • Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, and Xactimate to develop detailed cost proposals for commercial construction projects.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously by coordinating with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with vendors and subcontractors to optimize project budgets while maintaining quality standards.
  • Oversee construction site activities to ensure adherence to plans, schedules, safety protocols, and quality expectations.
  • Review construction drawings thoroughly to identify potential issues early on and implement effective cost management strategies.
  • Monitor project budgets continuously by analyzing cost reports, controlling material costs, and adjusting estimates as needed to prevent overruns.
  • Communicate regularly with clients regarding project progress, changes in scope, or potential challenges to foster transparency and trust.
  • Lead the review of construction contracts and manage change orders efficiently to minimize delays or budget impacts.
  • Utilize spreadsheets and construction management software for tracking project milestones, resource allocation, and overall progress.

Requirements

  • Proven experience managing construction estimates for commercial projects with a strong understanding of estimating software such as HeavyBid or similar tools.
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam for digital blueprint reading and markup as well as Xactimate for detailed cost analysis.
  • Extensive knowledge of blueprint reading, interpreting technical drawings, and reviewing construction plans accurately.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable pricing while maintaining quality standards.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects from initial estimate through completion within the construction industry.
  • Excellent communication skills for client interaction, team coordination, and vendor negotiations.
  • Familiarity with construction management software tools along with Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and reporting purposes.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex construction drawings while identifying potential issues early on.
  • Construction site experience is highly preferred to better understand on-the-ground realities impacting estimates and project execution.
  • Knowledge of contracts, cost control techniques, material estimating methods, and overall construction management principles.
