Job Title: Quality Inspector (In Process) – Valve Shop
Job Location: Euclid, Ohio
Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager of the Euclid Parts Division, the In-Process Quality Inspector will be responsible for inspections during the following processes: receiving, in-process, and final. Ensuring compliance with customer blueprints and applicable specifications. The In-Process Quality Inspector will also serve as a mentor to other inspectors and machinists on measurement techniques and methods.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Complete routine in-process inspection, testing, measurements, products or work for conformance to print specifications, criteria and gauging.
- Record accurate inspection records by recording test data, images, and measurement accuracy. Including maintaining filing systems and appropriate documentation to conform with all quality regulations.
- Maintain an open line of communication with the Manufacturing Manager regarding questionable measurements, visual discrepancies and/or non-conforming parts. Include the Operations Leader regarding any concerns while production is in process.
- Validate in-process production by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicating required adjustments to production supervisor.
- Validate finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for re-work; confirming re-work.
- Assist Manufacturing Engineering with documentation data for Engineering Approval.
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
- Ensure inspection records are filled out correctly and accurately.
- Good manufacturing practice and accurate paperwork/reporting in compliance with ISO 9001 and AS9100. Assist in any audits that require Quality input including any investigation or root cause analysis.
- Engage in the process improvement process to improved methods to inspect parts.
Required Training & Experience
- At least 5 years’ experience as a quality inspector, preferably in a precision manufacturing environment.
- Practical experience with routine inspections using applicable drawing, criteria, gauging, control plans and sampling plans.
- Basic knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T). including geometric symbols associated with.
- Knowledge of NDT testing with PT and UT, experience
- Proficiency in reading and understanding complex blueprints, route sheets, test specifications, customer specifications and internal drawings and procedures.
- Possess working knowledge of shop mathematics including trigonometry.
- Must demonstrate effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Must possess effective problem-solving skills and capabilities.
- Visual inspection skills required. Must be able to pass visual acuity including the distinction of paraments
- Demonstrated ability to utilize general inspection equipment as listed: calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, surface tester, optical measurement equipment.
Preferred Skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
Preferred experience in an ISO environment and ERP systems
