We're a Detroit- and Brooklyn-based independent concert promotion and real estate development company operating across two fast-moving entities — MeanRed Productions (~200 events annually) and Nomad Life LLC (multifamily and commercial property portfolio). We're looking for a sharp, detail-obsessed operations contractor to own the administrative and compliance backbone of both businesses.
INSURANCE & RISK
- Manage all business insurance policies (general liability, event, property, commercial) renewals, certificates, claims
- Coordinate vendor and venue insurance requirements for events
- Maintain a tracking docs and flag upcoming expirations
LEASES & LEGAL DOCUMENTATION
- Review, organize, and track residential and commercial leases across the real estate portfolio
- Manage vendor contracts, artist agreements, and venue agreements for MeanRed
- Maintain an organized document management system across both entities
- Coordinate with attorneys on legal filings, notices, and compliance documents
BILLS, PAYMENTS & ACCOUNTS PAYABLE
- Log, track, and process bills and vendor payments across both companies
- Maintain a vendor payment log and flag overdue obligations
- Reconcile accounts and coordinate with bookkeeper/CPA
- Create an AP system
- Create a new bookkeeping system
- Manage utility accounts, subscriptions, and recurring business expenses
GENERAL OPERATIONS
- Build and maintain SOPs for recurring administrative processes
- Manage business licensing, permits, and government filings
- Track key deadlines, renewals, and compliance dates across both entities
What we're looking for
- 5 years in operations, office management, paralegal, or similar administrative role
- Strong accounting literacy, comfortable with AP/AR, reconciliations, and basic financial tracking
- Working knowledge of contracts, leases, and legal documents (paralegal background a plus)
- Experience managing business insurance policies and certificates of insurance
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple entities simultaneously
- Proficient in Google Workspace, and comfortable adopting project management and financial tools
- Proactive self-starter, you chase down information, flag problems early, and build systems that stick
- Bonus: experience in real estate management, event/entertainment industry, or small business operations
- Understanding and use of AI to create faster work, better systems
