What are the responsibilities and job description for the FOOD SERVICE WORKER I position at MEALS ON WHEELS SAN ANTONIO?
General Role and Function:
Performs routine kitchen duties as necessary to prepare meals for delivery to homebound seniors. This position is responsible to the Production Manager and Director of Food Services.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Knowledge of basic food preparation, handling, sanitary guidelines, and kitchen safety.
- Must keep up to date with food handler certification.
- Ability to read and write in English, count, and have basic math skills and ability to communicate effectively is required.
- Must have reliable, personal vehicle and a valid Driver’s License, good driving record, and applicable insurance coverage required by the company policy.
- Team player with the ability to work independently.

Physical requirements:
- Able to stand in an upright position for long periods of time while serving, stocking, cleaning, and moving large food storage containers.
- Able to tolerate exposure to hot temperatures on occasion while cooking and preparing meals and cold temperatures while working in the freezer or cooler.
- Able to mop, sweep, bend, and navigate between large kitchen machinery.
- Able to occasionally life up-to fifty (50) pounds to move food delivery containers and kitchen equipment.
