Cook – Senior Nutrition Program
Join a team that makes a real difference in the lives of older adults in our community. Under direct supervision, the Cook coordinates and participates in preparing, cooking, and serving meals. This role helps ensure that every meal is nutritious, safe, and served with care.
The Nutrition Site operates Monday - Thursday.
Key Responsibilities
· Prepare and/or oversee the preparation of daily meals according to the approved menu schedule.
· Supervise staff and volunteers involved in food preparation and service.
· Ensure meals are served at the proper temperature, in the correct portions, and with good appearance, flavor, and overall quality.
· Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen and work environment.
· Keep required records accurately and on time.
· Estimate daily or weekly food needs and assist with ordering supplies.
· Inspect incoming food and supplies for quality, freshness, and correct quantities.
· Provide training to staff and volunteers; attend required meetings.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Knowledge of food preparation methods that maximize nutritional value.
· Understanding of purchasing principles, portion control, and efficient kitchen workflows.
· Good communication skills.
· Ability to work independently within established guidelines and procedures.
Education & Experience
· High school diploma or GED required.
· At least one year of experience preparing meals for groups of 25 or more is preferred.
Special Requirements
· Must be able to lift or move objects up to 50 pounds.
· Must meet local health requirements for food handlers. Training will be provided.
Pay: $10.50 per hour
