What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Associate position at Meals on Wheels of Hillsborough County?
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Operations and Logistics Manager, the Warehouse Associate supports daily operations daily operations of the HCMOW warehouse. This role is responsible for receiving and stocking inventory, assisting with meal packing and distribution, maintaining food safety standards, keeping the warehouse clean and safe and supporting volunteers during packing activities. The warehouse associate plays a critical role in ensuring that food and supplies are accurately received, organized, and delivered to support meal programs.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receive deliveries from vendors, the food bank and community partners; verify counts and inspect products for quality
- Label, stock, and organize products following FIFO (First-In-First-Out) standards
- Monitor and update inventory supply levels of all food items, including but not limited to, the frozen meals, refrigerated and nonperishable supplemental items
- Assist with inventory counts, reconciliations, and reporting to ensure compliance with safety requirements
- Assist with monitoring temperature logs, cleaning schedules and safety protocols
- Ensure effective and safe use of equipment within warehouse operations
- Complete daily meal packing, staging and labeling for daily home-delivery routes and community dining programs
- Work closely with volunteers during packing activities and serve as point of contact
- Maintain a safe working environment, ensuring that safety procedures are followed and any maintenance/facility needs are communicated timely
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the warehouse, storage, and staging areas
- Assist with deliveries when required and fill in for Food Distribution and Transportation Drivers when necessary
- Follow proper food handling and safety procedures to meet federal, state, and local health regulations
- Participate in safety drills and training as required
- Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
- High school graduate or equivalent, Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Prior warehouse, inventory, or food service experience preferred
- ServSafe or food handler certificate preferred
- Knowledge of FIFO practices and food safety handling a plus
REQUIREMENTS
- Successfully complete and receive training certification for OSHA Electric Pallet Jacks
- Maintain clear judgement, especially pertaining to personal and warehouse safety
- Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information
- Self-motivated with excellent attention to detail and organization skills
- Ability to work in refrigerated and freezer environments with temperatures that comply with food safety regulations
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs and climb stairs
- Ability to push/pull rolling racks, pallets, carts and baskets through the loading area and warehouse
- Ability to manage time and multitask effectively
- Ability to read and write required
- Ability to work with co-workers, volunteers and participants in a professional and respectful manner
- Ability to work independently and within a strong team environment
- Maintain a strong work ethic, flexibility, and a good sense of humor
- Must have and maintain a vehicle that has current registration and safety inspection
- Valid and current driver’s license
- Automobile insurance with Bodily Injury liability coverage of at least $100K/$300K
- Must be at least 21 years old
