SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Operations or designated staff, the Program Manager splits time between cultivating an exceptional front-of-house coffee program, including training staff and maintaining quality control, and supporting backend business operations. This includes overseeing inventory, managing supplier relationships, and assisting leadership with execution and growth of alternative revenue streams.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coffee Excellence & Staff Training (Lead Barista):
- Quality Control: Maintain the highest standards for espresso extraction, milk texturing, brewing methods, and drink presentation across the team.
- Training & Development: Design and lead onboarding and ongoing training programs for baristas to ensure consistency, speed, and exceptional customer service.
- Equipment Care: Oversee daily calibration, deep cleaning, and preventative maintenance of all coffee and beverage equipment.
Inventory Management & Ordering:
- Stock Control: Conduct regular, accurate inventory audits of coffee beans, syrups, milk, paper goods, and retail merchandise.
- Supplier Relations: Manage relationships with roasters and vendors, placing timely, cost-effective orders to eliminate stockouts while minimizing waste.
- Cost Management: Track waste logs and monitor cost of goods sold (COGS) to help optimize profit margins.
Operational Support & Program Growth:
- Admin Support: Assist management with daily operational workflows, scheduling coordination, and administrative tasks as needed.
- Alternative Revenue Programs: Actively support the launch, execution, and logistical coordination of alternative revenue streams.
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Help document, refine, and enforce SOPs to ensure seamless daily opening, closing, and service transitions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Minimum of 2–3 years of specialty coffee barista experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory, team-lead, or training capacity.
- Strong organizational skills with experience (or a strong interest) in inventory management, ordering systems, or basic spreadsheet tracking.
- Proven ability to coach, motivate, and give constructive feedback to a diverse team.
- A proactive mindset with the ability to troubleshoot equipment glitches, handle sudden spikes in volume, or pivot when logistics change.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, weekends, and occasional evenings for special events.
