JOB SUMMARY
The Substitute Mission Delivery Specialist is a part-time, as-needed role providing critical support across Meals on Wheels Central Texas. This position ensures continuity of operations and service delivery in the absence of regular staff. The responsibilities of this position will vary based on the support needed and will range from delivering meals to neighbors, supporting meal distribution, or serving as an onsite program coordinator. There are no minimum hours, and scheduling is based on organizational need.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- 1 years’ experience
- Dependable in attendance and performing functions of role while exercising good judgment
- Professional and courteous with good organizational skills
- Problem solving and conflict resolution skills
- Flexibility to work in various roles and locations as needed
- Familiarity with GPS and mobile applications for navigation and reporting
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and perform physical tasks in a variety of environments
- Commitment to the mission and values of Meals on Wheels Central Texas
- Valid Texas driver’s license, auto insurance, reliable transportation, and insurable under MOWCTX insurance policies
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver meals to clients on assigned routes, ensuring timely and accurate service
- Provide support at congregate meal sites, including setup, service, and cleanup
- Assist with food distribution logistics, including loading/unloading, inventory checks, and route preparation
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries and services provided
- Communicate effectively with clients, staff, and volunteers to ensure high-quality service
- Follow all safety, confidentiality, and food handling protocols
- Represent the organization’s mission and values in all interactions
- Participate in annual driving safety training and adhere to all safety protocols
- Contribute to organizational goals by completing required shifts in meal delivery, office support, or program management
WORKPLACE ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Work is primarily in the kitchen, warehouse, vehicle, or community site settings which may be indoors or outdoors
- Schedule varies based on organizational needs and staff absences
- May require use of computers and standard equipment, and communication via phone, email, and in-person is essential
- Physical demands include prolonged periods of sitting or standing, moving within the workspace, and occasional lifting or transporting of items up to 35–50 pounds
