What are the responsibilities and job description for the ECHO TECH EXTERN position at MEADVILLE MEDICAL CENTER?
Assists in performing echocardiographic examinations, including 2D, M-mode, Doppler and color flow studies, under the supervision of a registered cardiac sonographer.
Capable of performing procedures as per the Echo Extern skill sheet.
Gains hands-on experience in patient preparation, positioning, and image acquisition for transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE)
Demonstrates knowledge of and implements policies and procedures of the hospital and nursing departments - including safety awareness/Infection Control.
Observes and participates in stress echocardiograms and transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE).
Develops proficiency in operating ultrasound equipment and optimizing imaging parameters to obtain diagnostic-quality studies.
Collaborates with cardiologists and technologist to review findings, identify cardiac pathologies, and ensure accurate documentation of results.
Applies knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and hemodynamics to assist in interpreting echo data.
Provides for patient comfort, confidentiality, and safety.
Utilizes and maintains equipment in a clean and safe manner.
Demonstrates professionalism, communication skills, and commitment to quality patient care.
Demonstrates the ability to provide age appropriate care.
Performs other duties as assigned.
