Meadowlark Counseling Services (MCS) is a Veteran-Owned, DDAP-licensed outpatient Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and addictions counseling facility serving the Northern Tier of Pennsylvania. Position Overview
We are seeking highly motivated, compassionate, and growth-oriented Addictions Counselors to join our outpatient clinical team. The ideal candidate is personable, empathetic, open-minded, and eager to develop professionally within a supportive, collaborative environment.
This position provides outpatient individual counseling, SUD evaluations, ongoing treatment planning, and supportive services for individuals experiencing substance use, gambling, gaming, and other addictive behaviors.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual outpatient addictions counseling using evidence-informed, person-centered, and strengths-based approaches.
- Conduct biopsychosocial assessments, SUD evaluations, and ASAM level-of-care assessments in alignment with DDAP regulations.
- Develop and update individualized treatment plans, goals, and progress summaries.
- Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation within our EHR (Electronic Health Record) system in accordance with DDAP and HIPAA regulations.
- Participate in clinical supervision, staff meetings, trainings, and quality-improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with supervisors, administrative staff, referral sources, and community partners to support client care.
- Uphold all DDAP regulatory standards, confidentiality requirements, and ethical guidelines.
- Foster a comfortable, trauma-informed, and recovery-supportive environment for clients.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Criminal Justice, Criminology, Humanities/Human Services, or a related human-service field, or 5 years of related professional work experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to demonstrate empathy, active listening, and professional communication.
- Basic proficiency in technology, including Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and learning new documentation systems.
- Ability to maintain strict HIPAA compliance and uphold confidentiality at all times.
- Willingness to learn DDAP requirements, EHR documentation standards, and addiction-specific treatment competencies.
- Strong time-management skills and ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Demonstrated interest in addictions counseling and professional growth within the field.
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)
- Experience in SUD/addictions counseling, mental health, crisis work, or related behavioral health settings.
- Familiarity with ASAM criteria, DSM-5-TR, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and/or trauma-informed practices.
- Current or provisional clinical certifications or licensure (CADC, CAADC, LSW, LPC, etc.).
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain within the first six months).
- Prior experience working within DDAP-licensed facilities or with DDAP regulatory documentation.
