Job Description

MEI has a job opportunity for a Civil Designer to develop and draft civil engineering construction plans for commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects. Prior experience with civil drafting work is preferred, but backgrounds in structural, mechanical, electrical, or architectural drafting will also be considered. Job Duties

• Perform drafting work under the direction of project managers and engineers. Those not interested in performing drafting work need not apply.
• Perform design tasks under the direction of project engineers, such as grading design, gravity network design (knowledge of pressure network is a plus), corridor design (limited to service roads, site entrances/turn lanes), earthwork calculations/mapping using C3D.
• Perform preliminary Hydrologic/Hydraulic analysis related to site development under supervision of project engineers. Training will be provided as needed.
• Develop, draft, and publish civil engineering construction documents and reports
• Ensure given tasks are completed accurately and within deadlines.
• Utilize company AutoCAD/Civil 3D standards and details.
  
  

Qualifications

• Engineering in Training Certification (EIT) required.
• Work experience as a civil designer/drafter; minimum two (2) years preferred.
• Ability to work in a team environment with Project Managers, Engineers, and Designers.
• Must thrive in a fast-paced environment, be motivated by deadlines, and possess the ability to multi-task.
• Must be proficient in Autodesk Civil 3D, especially C3D functions related to land development tasks such as grading, gravity network design, corridor design, and be familiar with Civil 3D styles modification/functionality.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Prior knowledge of civil engineering standard practices, and land development code compliance is preferred.
