Mead & Hunt, a nationally recognized AEC consulting firm, has a full-time opportunity for an experienced Construction Representative to join our Aviation Midwest group in the state of IL, which includes our office locations in Chicago, Peoria, and Champaign. This role supports aviation and transportation projects statewide, with flexibility for a remote work arrangement for qualified candidates with the right ability and aptitude who can travel to project sites as needed primarily in Illinois.

Responsibilities Include
- Providing staff augmentation support for IDOT Aeronautics construction projects
- Managing multiple airport-related construction projects while balancing administrative oversight and field involvement
- Serving as an agency representative by overseeing work performed by other consulting firms
- Reviewing and evaluating contractor pay estimates, invoices, and supporting documentation
- Evaluating contract time adjustments and change requests
- Interpreting and applying IDOT processes, specifications, and forms
- Responding to technical and procedural questions from consulting teams using professional judgment and IDOT standards
- Participating in virtual meetings with consultants, IDOT, and project stakeholders
- Conducting on-site visits to verify construction progress and compliance with plans and specifications
- Documenting observations and supporting project decision-making
- Other tasks as assigned.
The Successful Candidate Must Have All The Following
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in construction management, civil engineering, or related field from an accredited college or university
- At least 4 years of relevant construction experience
- At least 4 applicable certifications
- Associate’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field from an accredited college or university
- At least 6 years of relevant construction experience
- At least 4 applicable certifications
- If no degree, must have at least 8 years of relevant construction experience
- At least 4 applicable certifications
- Experience working with or at IDOT and/or federal agencies such as FAA
- Certifications in IDOT Documentation of Contract Quantities, QC/QA, HMA Level I/II, and PCC Level I/II training is a plus
- Experience with technical construction of pavements, grading, site development
- Experience in construction observation, and IDOT documentation
- ASTM standard construction testing procedure experience
- Experience with MS Office Suite products
