Production Supervisor

Description

Purpose

To coordinate, supervise and consistently remain engaged with all production activities of hourly employees. Position will oversee and direct operations according to production schedules and quality standards; maintain production flow and balance production, quality and cost objectives while maintaining employee morale and safety. Planning and coordinating shipments and responsible for the receipt, storage and distribution of direct/raw materials.

Principal Accountabilities

Production

1. Review production schedules.
2. Maximize labor efficiencies.
3. Adjust workforce to staffing requirements.
4. Plan production schedules according to recognized equipment limitations.

Quality

1. Develop and audit quality control standards.
2. Maintain and adhere to ISO standards, including but not limited to the Quality Policy Statement as well as the Quality Control Procedures Manual.
3. Ensure employees are completing assigned training materials; including reading and review of work instructions.
4. Ensure hands on training matches work instruction documentation.

Safety

1. Monitor workforce activities to control the number of recordable doctor cases and lost time injuries.
2. Enforce safety rules
3. Conduct safety meetings and safety contacts as needed.
4. Investigate and report on all near misses and injuries and develop a corrective action plan when necessary.
5. Conduct annual review of “Right-To-Know” material.
6. Maintain showcase housekeeping.

Cost

1. Operate efficiently to control direct labor and material costs.
2. Encourage cost reduction ideas.

Employee Morale

1. Administer fairly, company and personnel policies.
2. Employ good human relations skills.
3. Train and motivate a competent workforce
4. Understand and apply terms of the labor agreement as needed.

Requirements

• Proven supervisory and management skills as well as effective oral and written communication skills.
• Strong leadership qualities necessary to develop a workforce with a strong team attitude for success.
• In-plant training or on-the-job training is a plus especially in the foundry environment.
• Key Leadership/Performance Competencies: Timely in Quality Decision Making, Able to Set and Coordinate Priorities, Professional Integrity and Self-Motivated.
