We are seeking an experienced and passionate Dental Assisting Instructor to join our team of motivated educators. This is a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact by teaching, mentoring, and shaping students as they prepare for rewarding careers in the medical assisting profession.

Summary:

Dental Assisting Faculty facilitates student learning and build students ability to critically think so that they can make safe and effective decisions on the job. The Dental assisting instructor promote a culture of learning that values mutual responsibility and respect. The instructor is responsible for teaching in various settings, including the classroom, online, and in the lab. They assess student performance and engage in curriculum development as well as program revisions.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Delivers education to ensure that competencies required for successful completion of the program taught as delineated through mastery of coursework and skill practicums.
  • Implement a variety of teaching strategies appropriate to learner needs and support the desired learning outcomes
  • Employs effective teaching strategies based on evidence-based teaching practices to supporting students achievements Uses technologies skillfully to support the teaching-learning process.
  • Uses oral, written, and electronic communication that reflects an awareness of self and others, along with an ability to convey ideas in a variety of contexts.
  • Provides opportunities for learners to develop critical thinking skills and ethical reasoning.
  • Fosters the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective development of students.
  • Employs a variety of strategies to assess and evaluate learning in three Bloom taxonomies domains: cognitive, psychomotor and affective.
  • Implements formative and summative assessment and evaluation strategies.
  • Enhances the teaching-learning process based upon data.
  • Provides timely, constructive, and thoughtful feedback to learners

Graduation from:

  • an accredited program recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) in Dental Assisting.
  • an otherwise recognized training entity in Dental Assisting; or
  • an institution located outside of the United States and its territories in Dental Assisting. The institution must have on file from an agency which attests to the qualitative and quantitative equivalency of the foreign education and the specific courses. The institution must use the credential evaluation services of an agency that has published standards for membership, affiliations to U.S.-based international higher education associations, and are frequently linked to and used by federal agencies, state agencies, educational institutions, and employers (e.g., NACES and AICE).

Professional Experience

  • Three (3) years of practical experience in dental assisting or a Dentist
  • Current knowledge in dental assisting can be proven by professional development or experience within last 2 years • Faculty is proficient in didactic and clinical four-handed and/or six-handed dentistry.
  • Faculty has knowledge in the educational theory and methodology, and in distance education techniques and delivery, if assigned.

Possess interpersonal skills e.g. caring, confidence, patience, integrity and flexibility. Awareness of any applicable state requirements governing dental assisting programs
