Overview
The Diesel Mechanic performs preventative maintenance on tractor trailer fleet
Level I
SCHEDULE:
Wednesday - Saturday
9pm-7am
Responsibilities
- Perform basic inspection (check fluids, lights, brakes, etc.)
- Perform preventive maintenance on cars, trucks, trailers, and other equipment.
- Responsible for diagnosis and repair of tractors including but not limited to brakes, suspension, transmissions
- Responsible for body repair including welding
- Fuel company equipment.
- Keep garage and all working areas clean.
- Record and enter maintenance and parts information into the computer.
- Work in a safe manner adhering to all MDI, state, and federal safety guidelines.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, stretch, and lift to 100 lbs
- Operate trailer yard spotter as needed.
- Will be required to be on call, as needed.
- Change truck and trailer tires, as needed.
- May be required to do other jobs or tasks, as needed.
Qualifications
- 2-5 years of hands-on repair and diagnosis experience
- Air conditioning certified
- Needs the following ASE certifications: Suspension/Steering, Air brake, Diesel/Gasoline, Transmission/Differential
- Experience in transmission/differential repair
- Intermediate computer skills with diagnosis programs preferred
- Experience with Mack/Detroit engines
- Basic welding skills
- Must be able to bend, twist, and lift up to 100 lbs and pass lifting test.
- Must have own basic tools and tool chest.
