Position Summary: One of our clients is seeking an experienced Database Engineer Advisor for an on-site position in Landover, MD. This multi-disciplinary role focuses heavily on database engineering, relational database architecture, systems administration, and software development support. The ideal candidate will design, build, and optimize secure database management systems while deploying automation tools to support critical defense and public sector operational assets.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Designs, builds, analyzes, and installs comprehensive database management systems.
- Develops data models, relational database architectures, metadata repositories, and configuration management frameworks.
- Writes, optimizes, and tunes complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers to maximize performance and scalability.
- Implements and manages robust database backup solutions and complex data replication strategies.
- Troubleshoots and repairs database replication issues within a master-master replication environment.
- Designs and maintains Ansible automation playbooks to patch and update operational assets with minimal service downtime.
- Develops and maintains advanced UNIX/Linux shell scripts and tooling to automate database management and operational workflows.
- Provides cross-functional systems administration support for both operating systems and application-level deployments.
- Education & Experience Matrices:
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
- Master's degree with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
- Ph.D. with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
- Technical Proficiencies:
- Demonstrated experience patching both Linux and Windows systems at the OS and application levels.
- Deep technical expertise in UNIX/Linux shell scripting for advanced automation and infrastructure tooling.
- Proven background managing enterprise-level, multi-site joint planning systems and a strong understanding of their architectural frameworks.
- Language Skills: Native or bilingual English proficiency is required.
Salary : $110,000 - $140,000
