Position Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Engineer – Hydraulic Modeling to support and execute complex water, wastewater, and stormwater projects. This individual will play a pivotal role in managing hydraulic modeling assignments, preparing technical deliverables, mentoring junior staff, and delivering quality solutions to public and private sector clients. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in hydraulic modeling, data analysis, and utility infrastructure design. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Project Manager in scoping, estimating hours, and managing hydraulic modeling tasks.
- Provide regular updates on design status and progress.
- Lead hydraulic modeling projects using advanced knowledge, modeling software, and GIS tools.
- Create, calibrate, and update hydraulic models for master planning and system evaluations.
- Analyze water/wastewater/stormwater conveyance systems to identify performance issues and develop corrective strategies.
- Prepare technical calculations, models, and design documentation for utility infrastructure.
- Monitor and track budgets for modeling tasks.
- Implement quality control and assurance processes per project management plans.
- Conduct and review technical reports, planning documents, and design specifications.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to team members while mentoring junior engineers and designers.
- Attend client meetings, provide updates, and offer strategic recommendations and solutions.
- Collaborate with subconsultants and cross-functional teams.
- Develop scope changes, task proposals, and work order requests.
- Conduct alternative studies and finalize technical reports for clients.
- Lead detailed phases of engineering work, including computations, specifications, and construction estimates.
- Ensure project delivery within scope, budget, and quality standards.
- Provide oversight and technical guidance to internal team members.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- 8–10 years of experience in hydraulic modeling or related discipline.
- Expertise in modeling software such as InfoWorks, WaterGEMS, XPSWMM, PCSWMM, KY Pipe, EPA-SWMM, etc.
- Strong understanding of transient analysis, data management, and GIS applications.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Proven skills in hydraulic design, sewer rehabilitation, and water/sewer system design.
- Solid background in engineering economics and technical report writing.
- Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience working with local government clients (county/state agencies).
- Primarily office-based work (approx. 95%), with occasional field visits under various weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs when necessary.
- Standard office environment with no hazardous or unpleasant conditions.
Salary : $100,000 - $120,000
