What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Appointment Scheduler/ Triage Team position at MD Pain?
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for triaging phone calls and scheduling new patient appointments along with established patients for a busy medical clinic. This includes answering phones, collecting balances and co-pays, verifying insurances, scheduling follow-up/procedure appointments, preparing schedules, and contributing to the smooth running and positive environment of the clinic.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Greet/welcome every patient by phone
- Patient check in duties, collecting co-pays and payments
- Patient check out duties
- Update/verify patient information and coverage
- Maintain the smooth flow of communication between patient, provider, medical assistant, and all clinic staff
- Provide assistance/information to patients as needed
- Answers phone, checks voicemail, and returns calls
- Maintain cleanliness of all common patient areas
- Schedule preparation
- Payment collection and documentation of proper insurance payer
- Documentation of money kept in office
- Appointment scheduling for follow-up visits and procedures
- All opening and closing duties as assigned
- Maintain a clean and organized work area at all times
- Follow HIPAA regulations as directed
- Follow all policies and procedures as written with integrity and honesty
- Create an environment in the workplace which coincides with the values and mission statement of MD Pain
REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience, Knowledge/Understanding
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Previous Customer service experience

- Excellent oral, written, and listening communication skills
- Effective organization and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple task simultaneously and work in high-pressure situations
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demeanor
- Proficient in the use of a PC; in a Windows environment; in the use of the Internet; and in the use of MS Office Applications such as Outlook, Word and Excel
- Proficient in the use of EMR systems preferred

Physical Demands

- Tolerate a moderate noise level at all times
Preferences
- 1 year medical office experience
