Position Summary
MD Dirt LLC is currently looking for an Excavation Project Manager Assistant to support the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and monitoring excavation and site preparation projects. This role helps ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with regulations, while maintaining strong communication between field crews, subcontractors, inspectors, and clients.
This position is ideal for someone eager to grow within the construction and excavation industry and gain hands-on project management experience.
Key Responsibilities
Project Support & Coordination
- Assist the Project Manager with obtaining material quotes and setting up vendor accounts
- Assist with tracking weekly production reports
Field & Office Collaboration
- Coordinate between field and office teams as needed
- Call in equipment rentals
- Coordinate equipment pickup and returns with rental companies
Permits, Safety & Compliance
- Assist with obtaining permits and coordinating utility locates (811)
- Help ensure excavation activities follow OSHA and local safety regulations
Documentation & Reporting
- Assist the Project Manager with preparing daily reports, meeting notes, and project documentation
- Assist with inspection records
- Maintain organized digital and physical project files (including truck tickets)
- Create and maintain Office Project Binders and Field Binders for all new projects
Budget & Cost Control Support
- Track labor hours, material usage, and equipment costs
- Assist with purchase orders
- Submit monthly equipment log reports
Quality Control
- Support the Project Manager with verification of trench depth, grading, and excavation accuracy when needed
- Coordinate inspections and follow up on corrective actions
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Knowledge
- Basic understanding of excavation, trenching, and grading
- Familiarity with construction terminology and workflows
Soft Skills
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Clear verbal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail with a problem-solving mindset
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
Software & Tools
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Construction or project management software (Procore or similar preferred)
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
- 2–5 years of experience in construction, excavation, or field coordination
Work Environment
- Split time between the office in Farmersville, TX and active construction sites as needed
- Outdoor work in varying weather conditions
- Exposure to heavy equipment and excavation operations
