What are the responsibilities and job description for the Monitor Tech position at MD Anderson Cancer Center?
The typical work schedule is Nights or Days, Rotating, Varied, Weekends from 7p -7a or 7a - 7p. Both shifts are available. The total work week is 36 hours.

Responsibilities
- Monitor and document EKG and cardiac rhythms continuously.
- Observe and record non‑invasive blood pressure readings and pulse oximetry measurements.
- Identify changes in cardiac rate or rhythm and promptly report findings to nursing staff.
- Maintain accurate records of all admissions, discharges, and transfers.
- Update and manage telemetry logs with precise and timely information.
- Support nursing staff with critical data needed for patient assessment.
- Contribute to patient safety by maintaining continuous observation of assigned monitors.
- Ensure correct operation and observation of monitoring equipment.
- Follow all established procedures for telemetry documentation and workflow.
- Relay urgent clinical information immediately to the responsible nurse.
- Coordinate with clinical staff to support workflow across the telemetry unit.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned to support departmental operations.
EDUCATION
- Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Preferred: Successful completion of a basic cardiac arrhythmia course.
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Required: 1 year Prior experience in EKG / cardiac monitoring. or
- Required: No experience required with preferred education.
- Preferred: 1 year of experience in cardiac monitoring.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Required: BLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire
