The overall goal is to cultivate the careers of young physicians to become leaders in the field of gastro-oncology. The fellowship program is carefully, but flexibly designed to accommodate the individual needs of candidates aiming at either clinical practice or academic positions upon completion of training. Fellows will learn from our exemplary team of clinical and research faculty members.

In addition to track-specific curricula and goals, all advanced fellows will receive additional support and skill development, project support, career planning, and advanced clinical research training. Programmatic infrastructure will deliver the aforementioned via the following mechanisms. Post-fellowship clinical, translational, and laboratory training
Research funding for supplies. Dissemination funding such as manuscript and scientific meeting presentations
Project support: Fellows design and implement projects and receive mentoring from expert faculty.

All duties and responsibilities are carried out in compliance with institutional policies, ethical research standards, and applicable federal and state regulations.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
The GIMO Clift Advanced Fellowship consists of one to two years of training with the following goals:
Translational research, including a personalized spectrum of clinical or basic research under one or more department faculty. Education through one-on-one meetings, lectures on GI research topics, and participation in team science.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Fellows must be eligible for a post- doctoral position per institutional guidelines, hold an M.D. or D.O. degree, and currently be in or have completed a medical oncology fellowship (or international equivalent).

The appointee recently (within three years) completed their education (doctorate) or completed previous postdoctoral experience or graduate medical education. The appointment is temporary; for one year and is renewable at the discretion of the faculty mentor. The appointment involves substantial full-time research or scholarship.

The appointment is viewed as preparatory for a full-time academic and/or research career. The appointee works under the supervision of a senior scholar or a department. The appointee has the freedom to and is expected to publish the results of his or her research or scholarship during the period of the appointment.

POSITION INFORMATION
MD Anderson follows the NIH stipend levels as outlined by the Kirchstein - NRSA. This full-time trainee position will provide a salary between $56,484 to $68,604, dependent upon the years of postgraduate experience.

Offsite work arrangements are subject to approval and may be modified or revoked at any time based on business needs, performance considerations, or regulatory requirements.

This position may be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, as defined in Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code and therefore may require routine reviews and screening. The ability to satisfy and maintain all requirements necessary to ensure the continued security and integrity of such infrastructure is a condition of hire and continued employment.
