Job Description
PROGRAM STRUCTURE: The program consists of fixed, sequential rotations across operational and support departments.
- Support Rotation
- Quality
- Objectives: Learn the product and it’s application while being able to identify and recognize quality defects. Additionally, understand the quality system.
- Deliverables: should include the ability to clearly identify products and defects, effectively track and report defects using the established quality reporting and escalation systems, and also participate actively in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- EHS
- Objectives: Learn environmental compliance, sustainability practices, regulatory requirements, hazard identification, and incident investigation.
- Deliverables: Demonstrated ability to track and report incidents using the EHS reporting and escalation system, and participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions..
- Core Operations
- Foundry Production (Off Shift Supervision Assignment)
- Objectives: Understand production processes, equipment, workflow, and efficiency metrics. Learn cost drivers, understand downtime causes, and implement continuous improvement practices. Lead and oversee production team members.
- Deliverables: Operator cross-training (labor utilization), participation in improvement initiatives (KPI Tracking), and a production improvement proposal.
- Maintenance/Engineering
- Objectives:
- Understand preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance
- Understand how engineering decisions affect safety, efficiency, quality and long-term asset performance.
- Gain a foundational knowledge of engineering support functions related to equipment, process improvements, and capital projects.
- Deliverables:
- Participate in preventive maintenance planning under department supervision.
- Demonstrated understanding of KPIs
- Completion of complete at least six root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Participation in engineering reviews, equipment upgrades, or process improvement initiatives where a management of change (MOC) is applicable.
- Tyler Union Facility (Finishing/Shipping/Sales/Planning)
- Objectives:
- Understand finishing operations, including quality standards, and labor utilization while learning how activities impact customer satisfaction, inventory, and shipment readiness.
- Gain working knowledge of outbound shipping processes, carrier coordination, and documentation.
- Learn the relationship between production capacity, customer commitments, and revenue.
- Understand the impact of planning on shipping and customer service.
- Deliverables:
- Completion of at least one process improvement recommendation from finishing or shipping.
- Demonstrated understanding of order-to-delivery process from a customer perspective.
- Demonstrated ability to review and interpret schedules, forecasts, and backlog reports.
- Customer engagement, market analysis, and sales process improvement recommendation.
- Final Support Rotation
- Human Resources
- Objectives: Learn employee relations, and HR compliance.
- Deliverables: Participation in an HR process improvement suggestion.
- Accounting / Finance
- Objectives: understanding cost structures such as bill of materials and process routers, learning about cost accounting processes, and becoming familiar with financial reporting.
- Deliverables: Demonstrate a clear understanding of product cost, manufacturing cost, cost reporting, and budget variance reporting.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, required
