JOB SUMMARY: As a Senior Accountant, you will report directly to the Corporate Controller and play a key role in managing complex accounting transactions for government contracts. This position is primarily responsible for revenue recognition, cost allocation to job transactions, and ensuring accurate financial reporting in compliance with federal regulations and company policies.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Responsible for the timely completion of monthly general ledger reconciliations (bank accounts, prepaid accounts, accrued liabilities, deferred costs, etc.) revenue recognition, preparing journal entries, and maintenance of fixed asset records.
- Mange vendor set-up and maintenance.
- Initiate weekly and monthly banking transactions to vendors and joint venture partners, monitor line of credit compliance and prepare monthly certification of line of credit borrowing base.
- Support monthly allocation of costs to job transactions details, distribute cost reports to operational managers and ensure that monthly bills for services are sent to customers timely.
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements, reports and account analysis.
- Ensure compliance with government regulations and company policies; assist external auditors as needed.
- Assists in advising department managers regarding accounting processes, reports, and comparative analyses.
- Recognize opportunities for improvement, make recommendations to the Corporate Controller and assist with implementing improvements.
- Completes special accounting projects as assigned.
- Performs other accounting and finance duties as needed.
- Work effectively with employees at all levels to coordinate financial processes, resolve issues, and ensure accurate reporting in support of organizational goals.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of 3 years’ of experience working in accounting including revenue recognition, job costing, accounts receivable, and accounts payable processes.
- 1–2 years’ experience applying Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) in a government contracting environment.
- 1 year of experience managing monthly close schedule, including assigning tasks, coordinating with team members, and ensuring deadlines are consistently met.
- 1 year of experience supporting or participating in DCAA audits.
- Strong knowledge of MS Office, specifically Excel.
- Ability to perform V-looks, Pivot Tables, “Sum-if” and concatenations
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Familiar with DoD Wide Area Workflow (WAWF)
- Experience with JAMIS
- Understand of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR)
