Position Overview
Under close supervision responsible for performing maintenance tasks for process and other building facilities, machinery and mechanical equipment, and piping and attachments for the DUF6 project. The specific work assignment may include duties or activities to support the organization in one or more of the following functional areas, in addition to other duties as assigned:
Functional:
- Fabricates and installs a large array of plant and industrial equipment, including auxiliary and plant process equipment
- Troubleshoots, repairs, and provides routine maintenance for a large array of plant and industrial equipment, including auxiliary and plant process equipment
- Fabricates and assembles component parts in building equipment or machinery with or without prints. Some inspection of machinery and assembly.
- Performs all functions necessary for the fabrication of sheet metal products (i.e., set up and operation of fabricating tools, layout, spot welding, soldering, and any function necessary to metal fabrication with or without prints)
- Performs all types of welding required for installation, assembly, and maintenance.
- Performs minor repairs to motor vehicles (i.e., replacing fuses, lights, etc.)
- Performs all types of masonry, cement, concrete, and related work
- Operates vehicles, machinery, and equipment
Competencies:
- Requires valid state driver’s license
- Requires satisfactory completion of a physical examination
- Requires passing a drug test
- Requires successful completion of all required training
- Requires ability to put on, wear, and take off company-provided personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Requires safe performance of duties through adherence to plant good work practices, policies and procedures
- Requires ability to work as a member of a team and share responsibility
- Requires ability to display professional conduct
- Requires ability to exert considerable manual effort
- Requires ability to work to required specifications
Minimum Requirements (Must meet DOE O 426.2 minimum requirements):
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 4 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required
- Possesses welding certifications or has the ability to pass welding certifications in a minimum 2 out of 4 of the following welding processes and materials:
Processes Materials
Stick Mild Steel
TIG Inconel
MIG Monel
Brazing Stainless Steel
- Prefers prior experience performing heavy industrial maintenance in an industrial maintenance capacity (i.e., welder, maintenance mechanic, millwright)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD-12) credential
