What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Manager - Financial Services Implementation position at MCS Group - USA | Your Specialist Recruitment Firm?
Project Manager - Client Implementations
Dedham, MA area | Onsite
We're working with an established global business that has been around for generations, but the work happening inside the company today is anything but old-fashioned.
They operate at the intersection of payments, secure technology, manufacturing and digital products, working with major organizations across financial services and other highly regulated industries.
The business is investing heavily in technology, AI and transformation and its Project Management function plays a major role in making that happen.
They're now looking for another Project Manager to join the team.
The Opportunity
You'll lead complex customer onboarding and implementation projects, working directly with clients and coordinating teams across areas such as Product, Engineering, Operations, Client Success and Commercial.
Some of these programs can take months to deliver and involve multiple technical, operational and customer workstreams.
Your job isn't simply to keep a timeline updated.
You'll be the person keeping everyone aligned, managing customer expectations, spotting problems before they become bigger ones and making sure projects continue moving forward.
You'll also join a PM team that is actively changing how project management is done internally, including using AI to streamline planning, documentation, communication and delivery.
There is plenty already happening, but there is also a lot still to build.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll own customer-facing projects from initial planning through implementation and launch.
That will include:
- Building and managing project plans, milestones, dependencies and resources.
- Leading customer meetings and acting as a key point of contact throughout delivery.
- Coordinating cross-functional teams across technical, operational and commercial areas.
- Managing changing requirements, risks, issues and competing priorities.
- Setting clear expectations with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Identifying where processes, workflows and delivery methods can be improved.
- Using modern tools, including AI, to make project delivery faster and more effective.
- Providing clear updates to senior stakeholders and escalating issues when needed.
The Right Person
The biggest thing we're looking for is someone who is excellent with customers.
You've probably managed implementations, onboarding programs or complex client projects where there are multiple stakeholders, moving parts and plenty of opportunities for things to go wrong.
You know how to keep a customer confident even when a project hits a problem.
You can have difficult conversations, manage expectations, push back when necessary and still maintain a strong relationship.
Your background could come from:
- SaaS implementations
- Fintech or payments
- Financial services
- Professional services
- Enterprise software
- Customer onboarding
- Commerce or other complex technology environments
- Another regulated industry
We'd also like to see:
- Around 2 years of relevant project, implementation or consulting experience.
- Experience owning projects rather than simply supporting them.
- Strong stakeholder and client management skills.
- Confidence working across both technical and non-technical teams.
- The ability to work through ambiguity and make sensible decisions without waiting for someone to tell you every next step.
- Curiosity around AI and how new tools can improve the way work gets done.
