PROGRAM / ACCOUNTING COORDINATOR POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES :
Full-Time Accounting Coordinator supporting the CFO in a government contractor company providing high-level administrative and financial support, with specialized duties that ensure compliance with complex government regulations. This role requires strong accounting and analytical skills, as well as a meticulous attention to detail. Knowledge of government acquisition, accounting, and compliance rules (such as FAR/DFARS) is a highly valued skill in this sector.
Job Title: Program/Accounting Coordinator
Position Summary:
The Program/Accounting Coordinator will provide administrative, financial, and program support to ensure the smooth operation of business activities. This role requires the individual to perform a variety of accounting tasks requiring experience related to the efficient maintenance and processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions. The Program/Accounting Coordinator serves as a key link between program management, accounting, and other business functions to support organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support to CFO, including the preparation of reports, presentations, and documentation
- Generate expense reports, and e-transactions in accordance with company policies
- Become familiar with entering and maintaining customer and contract information in the ERP system
- Maintain accurate and organized financial and program records, ensuring compliance with internal controls and audit requirements
- Support recurring month-end and year-end closing activities by compiling financial and operational reports
- Monitor program expenses and ensure proper coding and allocation of costs
- Track accounts payable transactions in accordance with company policies
- Assist in completing company records in customer portals as needed
- Serve as backup for generating and submitting accurate invoices to customers
- Prepare annual surveys and census data for submission
- Troubleshoot accounting issues in Costpoint
- Assist the audit team with accounting and DCAA and DCMA audits under the guidance of the CFO
- Assist with budget preparation, monitoring, and variance reporting
- Assist with the development of process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and program information
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (preferred)
- 3-5 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or program coordination
- Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting principles
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Experience with accounting software preferred, particularly Deltek Costpoint 8.2 including T&E
- Experience with government accounting audits (preferred)
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail with accuracy, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Effective communication skills with ability to collaborate across teams
- Self-driven, reliable, and eager to learn
Work Environment:
- Work is performed in a professional office setting with standard office equipment.
- Role may require occasional extended hours during month-end or year-end closing periods.
- Regular interaction with program managers, accounting staff, vendors, and external partners.
- In-person position requires sitting, typing, and reviewing documents for extended periods.
Salary Range:
The hiring salary range for this position is $55,000 to 85,000 annually commensurate with experience.
