What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adjunct Faculty - Bioversity Career Preparation position at MCPHS?
The School of Professional Studies is seeking adjunct instructors to teach in-person training for a workforce development initiative at Bioversity. This 8-week noncredit program is being delivered at the Bioversity training center in Dorchester. Faculty will instruct students on crafting compelling application materials, mastering interview techniques, and honing soft skills essential for securing entry-level positions in life sciences companies. Students are non-traditional working adults who hold a high school diploma. The ideal candidate will have experience in early talent development and/or coaching within the biotechnology or biomanufacturing industry.
- Teach on-site in Dorchester an estimated two days a week for 3-hour blocks
- Deliver engaging, hands-on sessions covering resume and cover letter writing, LinkedIn, and interview techniques, customizing content to diverse audiences
- Offer guidance on common interview questions, behavioral interview techniques, and strategies for showcasing strengths
- Conduct mock interviews and offer feedback to help students develop confidence, articulate their experiences, and make a positive impression on employers
- Incorporate expertise and participation from industry employees serving as guest speakers
- Curate and/or develop content (assignments, presentations, readings, discussion boards, quizzes, exams)
- Develop and administer effective assessments in a variety of formats on the key learning concepts
- Provide feedback to students regarding the subject matter and the professional skills needed to be hired and perform well in the workplace
- Maintain a repository of resources, templates, and best practices related to the application and interview process
- Ensure the course meets the high-quality standards of other MCPHS online and on-campus courses
- Identify tactics to improve the course based on feedback
Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree in subject area or related field preferred.
- Previous experience teaching and/or developing in-person training
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- A commitment to student success and the ability to engage and motivate students in an online and in-person format
- Comfort with ambiguity and effective problem-solving related to launching a new initiative
Desired
- Experience teaching subject matter for students entering life sciences professions
- Experience with a learning management system, such as Blackboard
- Experience with video-conferencing platforms, such as Zoom
