Risk Manager Job Summary: The Risk Manager is responsible for providing support to the Director of Quality, Quality department and Senior Leadership. Working collaboratively with members of the Quality department, Management Teams and the Professional Staff, the Risk Manager is responsible for performing duties that support the risk management objectives, performance improvement, peer review support, and other quality review duties. The Clinical Risk Manager, in collaboration with the Director of Quality, promotes and monitors patient safety initiatives throughout the Hospital.
Risk Manager Shift Availability:
Education:
Minimum: Associate degree (required) or bachelor’s degree (preferred) in Nursing or other medical backgrounds.
Experience:
Minimum: Two years of healthcare related experience.
Preferred: Experience in healthcare, healthcare quality assurance, risk management and performance improvement are preferred

Environmental Surroundings: Located in a comfortable indoor area.

- Takes a proactive approach to Risk Management across the organization that is consistent with McPherson Center for Health Risk Management plan. This includes, but not limited to, risk assessment, analysis of events/incidents and near miss incidents which resulted or could result in adverse risk or a compromise to patient or environmental safety; make recommendations to reduce, prevent, or eliminate risks identified.
- Staff education with a strategy to support a just culture and just reporting.
- Consults with staff, leadership, physicians, legal teams, and quality and regulatory organizations to ensure application of best practice procedures, policy alignment, and our compliance with rules and regulations to reduce risk for patient harm, monitor and maintain quality, safe patient care.
- Manages the electronic risk management system, ensuring that all incidents are investigated and forwarded to the appropriate committee for action in a timely manner.
- Reviews the organization’s events and determines the risks which need to be controlled or eliminated. Prepares reports and trending data to assist in evaluating and mitigating risk, and submitting reports as required.
- Prepares for and attends Risk Management Committee Meetings (RMQA and CSPI) and any other tasks related to each meeting.
- Support department specific tasks such as abstracting, surveillance and reporting as assigned.
- The Risk Manager is responsible for managing and submitting quality performance data to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and other regulatory or accreditation bodies. This role ensures compliance with federal reporting requirements, supports continuous quality improvement initiatives, and provides data-driven insights to hospital leadership to enhance patient outcomes and operational performance.
Education:

- Demonstrated knowledge of chart reviews looking for risk issues and a basic understanding of risk management. Knowledge of healthcare safety best practices and procedures.

- Demonstrates good organization and communication skills.
- Able to work independently with limited supervision.
