Responsibilities
- Procurement & Sourcing: Identify material needs and item reviews, supplier qualification, request quotes, place purchase orders, and secure favorable terms and pricing.
- Supplier Management: Build and maintain relationships with vendors and assess their performance.
- Inventory & Logistics: Monitor inventory levels, track order status, expedite or defer shipments as needed, and manage material flow to maintain proper stocking levels to avoid stock outs.
- Cost & Quality Control: Stay current with market trends and pricing, seek cost-saving opportunities, ensure materials meet quality standards, and handle order discrepancies.
- Issue Resolution: Proactively resolve discrepancies between POs and invoices, handle returns for defective materials and resolve supply chain bottlenecks.
- Education and Experience: Requires a BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience in procurement or related field, with a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient and proven experience with ERP systems (e.g., JD Edwards E1) and Microsoft Excel is essential for data integrity, analysis, and scheduling.
- Soft Skills: Strong negotiation, analytical problem-solving, and communication skills to effectively interface with both external vendors and internal departments with a sense of urgency.
