Responsibilities
As a Legal Assistant, you’ll provide critical administrative and litigation support to multiple attorneys. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Preparing, proofreading, and processing legal documents such as summons, subpoenas, complaints, appeals, and motions.
- Managing correspondence - mailing, faxing, and coordinating deliveries to clients, witnesses, and court officials.
- Organizing and maintaining case files, law libraries, and legal documents.
- Assisting attorneys with research and gathering records (employment, medical, etc.).
- Tracking deadlines, maintaining calendars, and attending legal meetings to take notes.
- Handling billing binders, entering daily time for timekeepers, and supporting other assistants when needed.
- Managing projects and balancing workloads within your practice group - all while maintaining confidentiality.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous administrative experience in a legal setting is preferred.
- Ability to work in-office with minimal travel between locations (as needed).
- Organized & Self-Motivated: Ability to juggle multiple tasks independently and prioritize effectively.
- Strong Communicator: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a customer-service mindset.
- Tech-Savvy: Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to learn new tools quickly.
- Professional & Discreet: A strong work ethic and commitment to confidentiality.
