Job Summary
The AI Infrastructure Engineer Intern will support MCNC AI infrastructure initiatives involving GPU systems, cloud environments, and advanced computing platforms used for artificial intelligence and machine learning workloads. The role will assist with infrastructure research, operational support, pilot projects, and documentation activities related to AI infrastructure environments.
The intern will work with MCNC team members, technology partners, and customers to support infrastructure planning, AI platform initiatives, and emerging cloud technologies. This role provides exposure to AI operations, infrastructure management, research computing environments, and enterprise cloud systems

Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Support proposal development and strategic planning activities.
- Research emerging technologies related to AI infrastructure, GPU systems, cloud computing, and automation.
- Support customer discussions, presentations, and infrastructure-related meetings.
- Assist with testing and evaluation of infrastructure tools and technologies.
- Identify and collaborate with like initiatives at MCNC peer organizations in AI, machine learning, and data infrastructure.
- Support proposal development and strategic planning activities related to quantum infrastructure initiatives.
- Continuous learning and research in advanced networking, GPU computing, and AI operations environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or related field.
- Basic understanding of AI infrastructure, cloud platforms, and enterprise computing environments.
- Familiarity with cloud technologies, virtualization, or container platforms is preferred.
- Exposure to GPU systems, AI platforms, or Kubernetes environments is preferred.
- Experience with programming or scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or SQL is preferred.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across technical and operational teams.
- This role operates on a hybrid work model and may require work from MCNC offices.
- Background and pre-employment screening requirements apply in accordance with MCNC policies.
