GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a motivated is seeking an AV Lead Technician to supervise the on-site installation, and troubleshoots complex audio-visual systems, while managing and directing the technical field crew on each project. Working from project blueprints, schematics, and system drawings, the AV Lead Technician ensures every installation is completed accurately, on schedule, and to a high professional standard.

As the main technical point of contact for the client on-site, the AV Lead Technician coordinates crew activities, resolves signal-flow and system issues in the field, and represents the company throughout the installation and commissioning process bridging the gap between the design intent and a fully functional, client-ready system.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

Installation & Field Supervision

• Lead installation of audio-visual systems from start to finish, ensuring work is completed accurately, safely, and on schedule.
• Manage, direct, and coordinate the technical field crew,assigningtasksandverifyingthe quality of their work throughout the project.
• Interpret and work from blueprints, floor plans, wiring diagrams, and system schematics to guide installation and confirm work matches the design.
• Coordinate on-site with general contractors, electricians, and other trades to sequence AV work and resolve site conflicts.

System Installation & Commissioning

• Install,terminate, and test complex AV systems including displays, projectors, audio, DSPs, cameras, control systems (e.g., Crestron, Extron, QSC), and structured cabling.
• Commission and calibrate installed systems, loading and verifying control programming, audio DSP settings, and video configurations.
• Perform final testing and quality checks to confirm each systemoperatestospecificationsbefore client handover.
• Completeaccurateas-built documentation, punch lists, and closeout paperwork for each project.

Troubleshooting & Technical Problem-Solving

• Troubleshoot and resolve signal-flow, connectivity, and system-integration issues across audio, video, and control platforms in the field.
• Diagnose and repair faults during installation and commissioning, minimizing rework and schedule impact.
• Apply strong knowledge of signal flow, networking fundamentals, and AV-over-IP to isolate and correct problems quickly.

Client Contact & Communication

• Act as the main on-site point of contact for the client, providing status updates and professionally addressing questions and concerns.
• Communicate progress, site issues, and change requests back to the project manager and internal team.
• Provide end-user orientation and basic training on completed systems at handover.

EDUCATION & TRAINING 

• High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree or higher in Audio Visual Technology, Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Information Technology, Computer Networking, Telecommunications, or a related technical field preferred.
• AVIXA CTS or CTS-I,Manufacturer certifications (Crestron, Extron, QSC, Biamp)preferred.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE 

• 8 years of hands-on AV installation and integration experience, and2 years leading or supervising field crews.
• Strong understanding of signal flow and experience installing, testing, and commissioning integrated audio, video, and control systems.
• Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, wiring diagrams, and system schematics.
• Experience troubleshooting complex signal flow, connectivity, and system integration issues.
• Working knowledge of low-voltage cabling, terminations, networking fundamentals, and AV-over-IP technologies.
• Experience commissioning Crestron and Extron control systems and DSP audio configurations preferred.
• Familiarity with construction site safety practices and coordination with other trades.

SKILLS & ABILITIES 

Demonstrated leadership and team coordination skills with the ability to direct field installation crews and ensure project milestones are met. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively interact with clients, project managers, subcontractors, and other trades as the primary on-site representative. Proven ability to analyze and resolve technical issues in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities. Ability to travel to project sites as required and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting equipment up to 50 pounds and working from ladders, scaffolding, or lifts when necessary. A valid driver's license is required.
