Responsibilities
- Assist in food preparation by chopping, slicing, dicing, and portioning ingredients according to recipes and safety standards
- Support the cooking process by operating kitchen equipment such as ovens, mixers, and fryers under supervision
- Follow recipe instructions meticulously to ensure meal consistency and quality
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and kitchen equipment to comply with sanitation regulations
- Help with meal assembly and plating to ensure timely service during busy periods
- Adhere to food safety management practices including proper food handling, storage, and temperature controls
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate tasks and ensure smooth kitchen operations
Requirements
- Previous experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is highly desirable
- Proven food preparation and cooking skills, including knife skills and slicing techniques
- Knowledge of food safety standards in production environments and food handling procedures
- Experience with menu planning, recipe adherence, and meal preparation in a restaurant or catering setting
- Ability to operate various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with kitchen team members
- Basic understanding of culinary techniques within the food industry or restaurant experience preferred
- Commitment to maintaining high safety standards in all aspects of food production and cleaning tasks
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
