Duties
- Monitor residents’ safety and well-being throughout the night, responding promptly to their needs and concerns
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Conduct regular checks on residents’ vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to ensure health stability
- Implement behavior management techniques tailored to residents with dementia or other cognitive impairments to promote calmness and cooperation
- Support residents during meal times by preparing snacks or light meals as needed and assisting with feeding if necessary
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties such as cleaning resident areas and ensuring safety hazards are promptly addressed
- Document incidents, resident observations, and care activities thoroughly in compliance with facility policies and regulatory standards
- Utilize specialized equipment like Hoyer lifts for safe transfers and assist with mobility needs using proper techniques
Experience
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care environments preferred
- Hands-on experience assisting individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges highly desirable
- Knowledge of Alzheimer’s care, dementia care strategies, and behavior management techniques required
- Familiarity with medication administration procedures and vital signs monitoring essential
- Experience operating EMR systems for documentation is an advantage
- Long-term care experience or working within personal care homes or group homes is beneficial
- Valid certifications such as First Aid and CPR are preferred; additional training in assisted living or senior care is a plus
- Ability to work independently during night shifts while collaborating effectively with team members
