The McMinnville Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking a proactive, collaborative, and organized professional to serve as our next Membership Director.
This is a highly visible, relationship-driven role focused on helping the Chamber grow, strengthening relationships with current members, and creating meaningful opportunities for businesses to connect and engage.
The Membership Director will spend approximately:
- 1/3 of their time on new member sales and business development
- 1/3 on member retention and relationship management
- 1/3 on membership programming and engagement
Our current membership is approximately 435 members, with a goal of reaching 450 by the end of 2026 and 500 by the end of 2027.
What You’ll Do:
Membership Growth
- Identify and develop prospective Chamber members
- Conduct proactive outreach and business visits
- Meet with prospective members and understand their needs
- Communicate the value of Chamber membership
- Follow up consistently and confidently ask businesses to join
- Maintain an organized prospect pipeline
- Work toward established individual and organizational sales goals
Member Retention & Relationships
- Build strong relationships with current members
- Conduct member outreach, meetings, and business visits
- Help members understand and use Chamber benefits, programs, and resources
- Support renewals and identify members who may be at risk of non-renewal
- Connect members with Chamber resources, businesses, and community opportunities
- Help maintain the Chamber’s historically strong retention rate
Programming & Engagement
- Coordinate and participate in Greeters
- Coordinate Business After Hours
- Lead New Member Orientation
- Support member networking and engagement programs
- Work with Ambassadors and volunteers
- Represent the Chamber at member and community events
- Assist with sponsorship and advertising development connected to Chamber programs

- Comfortable representing the Chamber in the community
- Comfortable speaking in front of small groups
- Adaptable and willing to learn
The position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus tied to individual and organizational goals.

Schedule & Requirements
This is a full-time position, generally Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with occasional early-morning and evening responsibilities related to Chamber events, member meetings, and community engagement.
A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.

Requirements
Prior sales experience is preferred but not required.
Prior Chamber or association experience is preferred but not required.
Existing McMinnville or Yamhill County relationships are preferred but not required.
A college degree is not required.
We are more interested in your ability to build relationships, communicate value, stay organized, take initiative, and deliver results.
Additional Skills
Experience in areas such as sales, business development, account management, fundraising, community relations, hospitality, banking, insurance, sponsorship sales, nonprofit work, marketing, social media, or content creation may be especially valuable.
Candidates with strong communications or marketing skills may have opportunities to take on additional responsibilities based on organizational needs and individual strengths.
