What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy Truck Driver position at McMillan Farm Management?
Essential duties for truck drivers:
Follow supervisor instructions always and arrive to work on time.
The truck driver's normal routine will be picking up loads of bins filled with citrus fruit in the field and hauling them to the packing house where the fruit gets graded, washed and packed (Approx. 40 miles one way).
The truck is a 2-axle commercial rig pulling two 24-ft trailers.
After being unloaded at the packing house, the trailers are refilled with empty bins and the driver returns to the field for another load.
Conduct thorough and accurate pre-trip inspections on the trucks and trailers.
Safely operate trucks and make on-time deliveries.
Safely hook up trailers to trucks.
Safely and correctly load/unload trailer and tiedown load appropriately.
Correctly distribute trailer load to comply with state and federal regulations.
Complete logs and other necessary forms.
Maintain and care for v-boards, tarps, ropes, bins and all other driver equipment.
Perform duties in accordance with established safety standards and proper vehicle operation techniques.
Communicate with dispatcher, field harvest supervisors, co-workers, and receiving location in a courteous and professional manner.
Participate in pre-hire US DOT drug and alcohol testing program as required.
Participate in safety trainings, orientations, and all other company meetings as required.
Ability to work overtime, weekend and holiday hours.
