TITLE:             CATERING COOK
REPORTS TO: MANAGER
FLSA CLASS:  HOURLY NON-EXEMPT

WAGE RANGE: $19 - $22.66 /hr. D.O.E

Description of the Position:
In general, every McMenamins catering cook will be asked to produce food for catered events. Duties include, but are not limited to; reading contracts, ensuring food gets to the event by the established deadline, following the established food portioning guidelines, manufacture and presentation of all catered food which includes cold trays, cold & hot sauces, hors d’oeuvre trays, meat & seafood, pasta, small amounts of baking, and food production for special events such as specialty dinners as well as holidays and property-wide events. Each cook is responsible for the organization and cleaning of their work area including dishwashing as needed. Being a catering cook can be hard physical work and takes the ability to effectively multi-task in a fast paced and deadline-oriented environment. A catering cook must also have the ability to work well independently and as a member of a team. Each employee will be expected to perform their job in a safe manner and report any safety concerns to Management. All McMenamin employees will also be expected to keep current on all company events, history, and products. Other duties as assigned by the Manager on duty.

Requirements of the Job:

• Obtain and maintain current food handlers card
• Ability to accurately work with numbers, orders and food specs
• Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
• Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays
• Ability to remain calm and focused in a high volume, deadline oriented work environment

Essential Functions of the Job:

• Safely lift and carry heavy objects with a hand truck or the help of another person if necessary
• Provide excellent food products in a high volume environment
• Work in & around a hot kitchen
• Must have a value for diversity and the ability to work with individuals from different backgrounds
• Follow strict adherence to deadlines, product quality, and food costing
• Work for long periods on feet including frequent walking and standing
• Perform repetitive movement such as pushing, pulling, bending, some twisting and stooping
• Perform fine hand manipulation including handling small and large objects, chopping and use of kitchen equipment, etc.
• Communicate clearly
• Be positive, polite, and cooperative with co-workers, managers, vendors, and customers
• Work around various heat sources, including grills, broilers, and hot-oil fryers
• Work with and around sharp objects, including knives & slicers
• Work with chemicals used in cleaning and sanitizing
