The Irrigation Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, and
installation of commercial and residential irrigation systems. This position ensures irrigation
systems operate efficiently to maintain healthy landscapes while conserving water and
meeting company quality standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
● Inspect irrigation systems regularly to ensure proper operation and coverage.
● Diagnose and repair irrigation issues including broken sprinkler heads, valves, pipes, wiring, and
controllers.
● Install and replace irrigation components such as rotors, spray heads, drip systems, valves, and
timers.
● Program and adjust irrigation controllers and smart irrigation systems according to seasonal
requirements.
● Identify leaks, drainage issues, and areas of poor coverage or excessive watering.
● Perform routine system maintenance including nozzle adjustments, filter cleaning, and line
flushing.
● Monitor water usage and recommend improvements for water conservation and system
efficiency.
● Operate irrigation tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
● Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and completed work orders.
● Communicate professionally with supervisors, property managers, and clients regarding irrigation
issues and recommendations.
● Ensure all work is completed according to company standards and local water regulations.
● Assist landscape crews with related maintenance duties when necessary.
● Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked service vehicle and equipment.
Qualifications
● Minimum of 1–3 years of irrigation experience preferred.
● Knowledge of irrigation systems, controllers, valves, pumps, and troubleshooting techniques.
● Ability to read irrigation plans and schematics is a plus.
● Experience with smart irrigation technology preferred.
● Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
● Ability to work independently and efficiently.
● Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
● Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Physical Requirements
● Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
● Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
● Frequent walking, bending, kneeling, digging, and standing.
● Ability to safely operate power tools and equipment.Work Environment
● Full-time outdoor position with occasional overtime based on seasonal workload and emergency
repairs.
