Commercial Mechanic
General Description:
Diagnose and repair commercial trucks and trailers.
Duties Include:
- Engine diagnostics and engine repair.
- Brake inspections and repair.
- Alignments and steering repair.
- Suspension repair.
- Welding and fabricating.
- Perform preventative maintenance services
- Maintaining a clean shop.
- Other duties as assigned.
For Road Service:
- Operate heavy-duty service trucks and associated tools.
- Work outside in all weather conditions.
- Repair trucks and trailers on-site for customers.
- Perform fleet inspections.
- Maintain Company Vehicles to D.O.T. standard.
- Perform Emergency Road Service to repair disabled trucks mechanical issues.
- Prepare paperwork on-site detailing the services performed and submitting it to Sales.
- Effectively communicate fleet needs with Service and Sales.
Equipment:
- Raise and lower vehicles safely, with hydraulic or floor jacks.
- Safely operate all shop machinery, including but not limited to diagnostic computers, floor jacks or lifts, air powered tools, torque wrench welder and cutting torch.
- Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment.
Requirements
Commercial Mechanical Technician Requirements:
- Must perform duties and responsibilities in a safe manner.
- Must have a valid driver’s license; driving record must meet company’s insurance requirements.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced customer service-oriented environment.

- Must pass DOT medical certificate if applicable.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Position requires continuous standing, bending, lifting and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Repetitive motion – Must have the ability to handle repetitive motion.
- Sustained vibrations – Must have the ability to sustain frequent vibrations.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Read ticket and perform work listed; write confirmation and recommendation.
- Environment: Ability and willingness to work in an environment that is not climate controlled. Temperatures range from extremely hot to extremely cold, depending on the season.
- Vision (Near, distance, Color, Peripheral, Depth Perception).
- Sense of sound (Alarms, horns and motorized equipment).
- PPE: Ability and willingness to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (Safety Glasses, gloves, safety harnesses, steel reinforced footwear).
- Must pass qualifications to receive a D.O.T Medical Card if necessary for the vehicle team member is operating.
