The Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer is a technical and client-focused leader responsible for growing and sustaining municipal and industrial relationships throughout Wisconsin and neighboring states. This individual serves as a senior technical resource for planning, design, and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects while providing quality control reviews and mentoring within their area of technical expertise. The role blends business development, project leadership, and technical excellence to support long-term strategic growth.
Key Responsibilities
Client Development & Market Growth
- Establish, maintain, and grow trusted client relationships with public agencies, utilities, and industrial stakeholders.
- Identify new market opportunities, support proposal development, and participate in client presentations and negotiations.
- Collaborate with leadership to develop regional growth strategies and expand service offerings.
Technical Leadership & Project Delivery
- Serve as a senior technical resource for planning, design, and implementation of water and wastewater systems, including treatment facilities, pumping systems, conveyance, and related infrastructure.
- Provide technical oversight and direction across all phases of project delivery, from planning and preliminary engineering through final design and construction support.
- Support project managers in scope development, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
Quality Control & Mentorship
- Perform quality control (QC) and peer reviews for deliverables within area of technical specialization to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, industry best practices, and firm quality requirements.
- Maintain high technical standards for design calculations, reports, drawings, and specifications.
- Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers, providing technical coaching and professional development.
- Support continuous improvement of internal technical processes, standards, and design tools.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering discipline (Master’s degree preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- 12 years of experience in water and wastewater engineering, with demonstrated senior-level responsibility.
- Proven experience working with municipal and/or industrial clients on complex infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated success in client development, relationship management, and market growth.
- Strong technical background in planning and design of water and wastewater systems.
- Experience performing and overseeing quality control reviews.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with clients, regulators, and project teams.
