Law Clerk – Federal Immigration Litigation (Remote)

MCM Law Group, P.C. is seeking a highly motivated Law Clerk with strong legal research and writing skills to join our growing immigration litigation team. This is a remote position focused primarily on federal habeas corpus litigation and immigration bond proceedings.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, works independently, and is comfortable handling fast-paced federal court matters.

Position Details

* Remote

* Monday through Friday

* During the summer: Full-time, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time (PT)

* During the academic year: Approximately 20–25 hours per week (schedule to be coordinated around class commitments)

Compensation

* $20.00–$25.00 per hour, depending on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated knowledge of federal immigration litigation and legal writing.

Primary Responsibilities

* Under the supervision of a licensed attorney, draft habeas corpus petitions, motions, briefs, declarations, and other federal court filings.

* Under the supervision of a licensed attorney, assist with immigration bond proceedings and related litigation.

* Conduct legal research using federal and immigration law resources.

* Prepare exhibits and supporting documentation.

* Review court orders, deadlines, and procedural requirements.

* Maintain organized case files and assist with case management.

* Communicate professionally with attorneys, staff, clients, and government agencies as needed.

Required Qualifications

* Experience drafting legal pleadings and legal memoranda.

* Excellent legal research, analytical, and writing skills.

* Strong attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines.

* Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a remote legal team.

Preferred Qualifications

* Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred, but not required).

* Familiarity with federal district court practice, preferably in the U.S. District Courts in California.

* Experience with, or familiarity with, immigration habeas corpus proceedings.

* Knowledge of immigration bond proceedings and removal defense matters.

* Proficiency with PACER and CM/ECF electronic filing.

* Experience working in an immigration law firm.

* Familiarity with immigration detention litigation.

* Experience with case management software such as Clio.

* Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, Google Drive, Gmail, Adobe Acrobat, and other common legal technology platforms, including the ability to complete and prepare legal forms.
