CNC Machinist - III

Position Overview

MCM Inc. is seeking an experienced Level 3 CNC Machinist capable of independently completing complex machining operations from initial setup through final inspection. This advanced-level position requires strong Fanuc programming experience, excellent blueprint-reading skills, and the ability to manufacture precision parts safely, accurately, and efficiently with minimal supervision.

The ideal candidate will possess advanced setup, programming, troubleshooting, and inspection skills and will consistently meet MCM Inc.’s quality and production-efficiency standards.

Responsibilities

• Complete complex CNC machine setups from start to finish, including tooling selection, workholding, offsets, and program verification.
• Set up, operate, program, and troubleshoot CNC equipment with Fanuc controls.
• Read and interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and geometric tolerances.
• Select and install the appropriate tooling, fixtures, and workholding devices.
• Determine and adjust proper speeds, feeds, and cutting parameters.
• Machine precision parts while consistently maintaining tight tolerances.
• Inspect first-piece and in-process parts using wing calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators, and other precision measuring instruments.
• Accurately indicate vises, fixtures, and workpieces.
• Make necessary programming, tooling, and offset adjustments to maintain quality and productivity.
• Identify and correct machining, tooling, programming, or setup issues with minimal supervision.
• Monitor tool condition and make replacements or adjustments as necessary.
• Maintain accurate production, inspection, and job-tracking records.
• Meet established quality standards and production-efficiency expectations.
• Assist and provide technical guidance to less-experienced machinists when needed.
• Follow all company quality, safety, attendance, and housekeeping procedures.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized machine and work area.
• Work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

Required Qualifications

• At least three years of CNC machining experience; three to five years preferred.
• Proficiency with Fanuc controls and CNC programming.
• Demonstrated ability to independently perform complex CNC setups from start to finish.
• Experience machining precision parts to tight tolerances.
• Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and geometric tolerances.
• Experience indicating vises, fixtures, and workpieces.
• Proficiency using wing calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators, and other precision measuring equipment.
• Experience machining carbon steel and aluminum.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, quality personnel, and other team members.
• Ability to work efficiently and maintain quality in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Dependable attendance, a professional attitude, and a strong work ethic.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Mastercam programming experience.
• Experience operating and setting up both CNC mills and CNC lathes.
• Experience with 3-, 4-, or 5-axis CNC equipment.
• Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Previous experience training or providing technical assistance to less-experienced machinists.

Physical and Work Requirements

• Ability to stand and operate machinery for extended periods.

Pay: $31.13 - $37.49 per hour
